Lazio are stepping up their efforts to sign Portuguese full-back Vitorino Antunes from Malaga, reports Sky Sport Italia.
The Biancocelesti lack cover for Stefan Radu and they see the experienced defender as potentially a very good addition to the squad.
Sky Sport Italia understands that Lazio officials are on the verge of persuading the player to move to Stadio Olimpico, but they still need to sort out a transfer fee with his employers.
The interesting thing is that Antunes was on the books of Roma between 2008 and 2012, but he only managed five league appearances for the Giallorossi, while enjoying loan spells at Lecce, Leixoes, Livorno and Panionios.
The 27-year-old has kick-started his career at Malaga, and he went on to start 36 La Liga fixtures last season.
Antunes seems to have done enough to catch the eye of Europe’s top clubs, with Lazio likely to face competition from several Premier League sides.
