Lazio hoping to keep hold of De Vrij

Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Lazio hope to persuade star defender Stefan de Vrij to remain at the club at least for another year.

The Biancocelesti had three important footballers with one year left on their respective deals, and all of them could end up leaving this summer.

Lucas Biglia has already joined AC Milan, Balde Keita is nearing a summer exit, so Lazio chiefs hope at least Stefan de Vrij will stay.

The Dutch centre-back is prepared to extend for another year but only if a low release clause is inserted in his new deal as he wants to be allowed to leave either in January or next summer.

Lazio may be forced to agree to such an arrangement or else they would risk losing de Vrij on a free transfer in a year’s time.

Said release clause is likely to be between €10m and €15m, allowing interested sides to easily get their man.
