Italian giants Lazio are stepping up their efforts to sign Feyenoord captain Jordy Clasie, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Biancocelesti aim to recruit another high-profile central midfielder regardless of whether Lucas Biglia remains or not.
It is no secret that Feyenoord hotshot Jordy Clasie is their number one target, with Lazio hoping to recruit another star player from De Kuip after Stefan de Vrij joined last summer.
But, as they learned when trying to recruit the talented defender, the Dutch side are not that easy to persuade to sell their key men, and negotiations over Clasie have been taking longer than expected.
Nevertheless, Lazio still have plenty of time to wrap up the deal before Stefano Pioli and his men begin pre-season training, with Clasie looking a bargain at €8 million.
The Netherlands international has been performing at a very high level for several years now, and a move to Italian Serie A is a logical step in his career.
