San Lorenzo defender Santiago Juan Gentiletti has emerged as a surprise target for Serie A outfit Lazio, reports Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Biancocelesti have managed to win the race for Netherlands starlet Stefan de Vrij, but they clearly aim to sign another central defender.
And while the club have been linked with moves for Nicolas Spolli, Alexis Rolin and Cristian Zapata, Lazio officials appear to be showing interest in San Lorenzo’s Santiago Juan Gentiletti.
The 29-year-old has just won the Copa Libertadores trophy with the Argentine giants and he should be available for a nominal fee.
And with Gentiletti also in possession of a European passport, he has become very appealing to the Serie A side of late.
Lazio have big ambitions for the upcoming season following the recruitment of Filip Djordjevic, Marco Parolo, Dusan Basta, Stefan de Vrij and Edson Braafheid, with the Biancocelesti priced at 16/1 to achieve a top 3 finish.
