Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Lazio are on the verge of signing Fabio Quagliarella from Juventus.
The Biancocelesti hope to sign the forward on loan with an option to buy, whereas their league rivals are holding out for an outright transfer.
Lazio will offer Quagliarella a three-year deal worth €1.5 million per campaign, but it remains to be seen whether they can reach an agreement with the player’s employers.
Juventus reportedly value the experienced striker at €7 million, as his contract in Turin does not expire until June 2015.
Lazio emerged as favourites to sign Quagliarella after Fiorentina puled out of the race having lured Alessandro Matri from AC Milan.
The Biancocelesti are desperately trying to get their campaign back on track, having brought Edoardo Reja to replace Vladimir Petkovic.
Lazio play struggling Udinese away at the weekend, with the Stadio Olimpico outfit 19/10 to claim maximum points.
