Lazio planning Milan assault

Lazio plan to attack league leaders AC Milan from the outset of their clash at the San Siro on Tuesday, according to coach Edoardo Reja.

Milan lead third-place Lazio by seven points on the Serie A table, and a loss for Reja’s side could all but end their hopes of winning their first league title since 2000.

But despite the risks, Lazio will not be taking a backward step, with Reja insisting his side would be going for the win at the San Siro.

“Of course we can’t be waiting for the actions of AC Milan,” Reja said.

“There are opportunities to achieve a good result only if you create chances. It is not possible to defend for such a long period because sooner or later a goal will be conceded.”

“We should have the skills and the mentality to create chances when AC Milan has a slight dip.”

“We should create solutions in the offensive third in order to finish and score some goals since they have players able to always score goals if they find the right spaces not only in the home matches, but also in the away matches. We should achieve a positive result.”

Libor Kozak scored a double as Lazio beat Fiorentina 2-0 on Saturday, and Reja said he would again call on the Czech striker as injuries hit his squad.

“Both teams have players unavailable: Lazio has some problems since we’re missing important players especially up front,” Reja said.

“There aren’t many alternatives – either (Giuseppe)Sculli or Kozak. They are fit and I hope they have recovered in these two days in order to be able to play for 90 minutes and create opportunities.”
