Serie A outfit Lazio have rejected a €50 million proposal for Brazilian hotshot Felipe Anderson, according to sporting director Igli Tare.
The 22-year-old exploded onto the biggest stage last season and in turn became a target for quite a few of Europe’s top clubs.
Lazio have done well to keep numerous approaches a secret, but sporting director Igli Tare has now disclosed that the Biancocelesti rejected a mega money offer for their star player.
“Yes, it could’ve been a mistake not to sell anyone, but I can say that the idea to refuse €50m for Felipe Anderson was because we strongly wanted to give consistency to this project,” Tare told Il Corriere dello Sport.
Antonio Candreva and Lucas Biglia are also players who have been subject of substantial offers, but Lazio have so far managed to keep hold of their best footballers.
Such an approach has yet to produce the desired results as the Stadio Olimpico outfit sit 13 points adrift of Champions League positions and they are 200/1 chance to achieve a top 3 finish.
Felipe Anderson’s under-par performances are certainly one of the reasons for the failure to mount a top 3 challenge, although the Brazilian still managed 6 goals in 24 league outings.
