Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Lazio are planning a January move on Sampdoria striker Mauro Icardi.
Icardi, 19, has exploded onto the biggest stage this season and has seen his name linked with top Italian clubs.
A week ago, the youngster admitted he was aware of interest from Lazio and Inter, but insisted that he wanted to remain at Genoa.
However, much has happened since that could see the talented forward change his mind and accept a proposal from one of the two clubs.
At the time, Icardi was confident he would sign a new and improved deal at Marassi, but contract negotiations have not gone as planned.
The player and his representatives are disappointed with club’s latest proposal, €400,000 per season, meaning that Lazio and Inter could take advantage of the situation and lure the youngster with a hefty contract offer.
Icardi, who spent three years at Barcelona before joining Sampdoria, has scored 3 goals in 13 Serie A appearances this season.
