Serie A side Lazio Roma have announced the signing of Uruguayan midfielder Sebastian Eguren on loan from Villareal.  The 29 year old has initially joined the Biancocelesti till the end of the season with a view to making the move permanent later. Lazio have reportedly paid Villareal around €350K as loan fee for Eguren, with a further fee of €3m payable if they wish to make Eguren a permanent arrival at Stadio Olimpico.

Eguren played for Montevideo Wanderers, Danubio and Nacional in his native Uruguay before joining Norwegian outfit Rosenborg in 2005. After a year with Rosenborg, he was transferred to Swedish club Hammarby. In January 2008, he was sent on loan to Villareal and made enough of an impact to seal a permanent transfer to the Yellow Submarines in May 2008.

Eguren’s contract with Villareal expires in the summer of 2011.
