Serie A giants Lazio have turned their attention to Atletico Madrid forward Alessio Cerci, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Biancocelesti are expected to announce the signing of centre-back Bastos, who arrives from Russian Premier League surprise package FK Rostov, but their search for attacking reinforcements is not exactly going according to plan.
The latest reports suggest that Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has dropped his interest in Rennes forward Paul-Georges Ntep and instead turned to Alessio Cerci.
The former Italy international has no future at Atletico Madrid, and after showing some promise during the loan stint with Genoa, he could be returning to Italian Serie A.
Prior to leaving Torino two years ago, Cerci was widely regarded as one of the leading footballers in Italy’s top flight, but he has since seen his stock fall a great deal.
The 29-year-old scored 4 goals in 11 league outings for Genoa last term.
