Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito has made Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa the number one candidate to take over the reigns at Stadio Olimpico.
Stefano Pioli was sacked following a largely disappointing campaign and former Italy boss Cesare Prandelli has since emerged as the most likely successor.
However, Il Corriere dello Sport claims that Lazio president Claudio Lotito has changed his mind and that he now wants Marcelo Bielsa as his new boss.
The Argentine coach has been without a job since leaving Marseille at the start of the last season, and it goes without saying that he will want strong assurances if he is to accept the offer.
Lotito believes that Lazio needs someone like Bielsa to finally return to the right track following several very difficult years, and he will give his best to persuade El Loco to sign.
It is believed that the Argentine requires a two-year contract for him and his coaching staff worth €4 million per campaign in total.
