Lazio star Antonio Candreva has revealed that he rejected an opportunity to leave Stadio Olimpico during the summer transfer window.
The Italy international was linked with quite a few top sides this summer, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham all thought to have tried to sign the midfielder.
Lazio somehow managed to keep hold of their star player, but Candreva has suggested that he had a chance to quit the Biancocelesti.
“I could have gone, there was the possibility but I want to become a star here,” the player told reporters after helping his side hammer Cesena on Sunday afternoon.
Antonio Candreva developed into a key player for Lazio shortly after arriving from Udinese and he has so far scored 22 goals in 89 Serie A outings.
The 27-year-old has also become an important player for Italy and he started two matches for the Azzurri at the 2014 World Cup.
Having returned to winning ways against Cesena, Lazio are available at 6/4 to defeat Genoa on the road next weekend.
