(GSM) – Lazio striker Julio Ricardo Cruz is ready to retire at the end of the season, confirmed his agent.
The former Argentina international has barely played this term following a free transfer to the Olimpico.
“His idea right now is to retire in the summer,” Cruz’s agent Jorge Cyterszpiler told Calciomercato.it.
“This season he has had so many problems with his back and is really thinking about leaving football behind.
“At the moment that is the plan. We will see what happens later on.”
Cruz first arrived in Serie A from Feyenoord in 2000, scoring 27 goals in 88 games for Bologna.
In 2003 he joined Internazionale and played there for six years, netting 49 goals in 129 appearances.
Last summer Cruz was out of contract and switched to Lazio, where he has scored four goals.
The Argentine will turn 36 in October.
