Lazio’s Marchetti agrees Milan switch

AC Milan are set to complete the signing of Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti, Il Corriere dello Sport has quoted Swiss media as saying.

The two clubs have reportedly agreed on a €13 million transfer fee, with the player yet to reach an agreement over personal terms.

The Rossoneri see the former Italy international as a great long-term replacement for veteran keeper Christian Abbiati.

Milan have been keeping close tabs on Marchetti for quite a while and they decided to act when it became clear the player was unhappy at Stadio Olimpico.

The 31-year-old has lost his place in the starting line-up this season and is, therefore, expected to miss out on Italy’s World Cup squad.

Lazio and Milan are locked in the battle for the final Europa League berth in Serie A, together with Torino, Verona and Parma, with the Rossoneri 7/5 to defeat arch rivals Inter and improve their top 6 hopes.
