Bolton Wanderers midfielder Lee Chung-yong has signed a contract extension with the club that should keep him there until 2013.
The 22-year-old, who starred in his side’s 5-1 thumping of Newcastle on Saturday, joins a trio of young stars in committing their future to the club.
Midfielders Stuart Holden, 25, and Fabrice Muamba, 22, and 18-year-old striker Danny Ward, have also signed contract extensions with Bolton, meaning the future looks bright for Owen Coyle’s side – who sit fifth in the English Premier League standings after 14 games.
“We have signed Lee on a contract extension. It is great news for the club that such a talented player will be here for a long time,” Coyle said.
“With the talent he has Lee is getting better day by day and I am thrilled he has signed up.”
“What I am wary of is we do not burn him out as he has played two years without a break. He managed to have three weeks off after the World Cup, that’s all.”
“These extensions show we are looking to build a club. I am very forward thinking in trying to improve and help these young players on our journey.”
