PSV have decided against selling Cody Gakpo on summer transfer deadline day amid interest from Leeds United and Southampton, according to The Athletic. The report published this morning has claimed that Dutch giants PSV are now hopeful that that the 23-year-old Netherlands international winger will stay.
Premier League clubs Leeds and Southampton are keen on signing Gakpo from PSV. The Saints were working on a deal to bring the 23-year-old to St. Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday, while Leeds Director of Football, Victor Orta, has travelled to the Netherlands in order to strike a deal.
Gakpo has been on the books of PSV since 2007 and has established himself as an important player in the first team. The 23-year-old has scored six goals and given three assists in four Eredivisie matches so far this season.
