Matt Smith has become Brian McDermott’s first signing at Leeds United after agreeing a two year deal with the club.
The 24 year old was available on a free transfer after turning down the offer of a new contract at Boundary Park.
He will join fellow strikers El Hadji Diouf, Steve Morison and Ross McCormack at Elland Road, with the club looking to forge a promotion push for the forthcoming campaign.
The club finished in 13th place, both seven points from the play offs, and from the relegation zone.
Smith was Oldham’s second top goal scorer in the league last season, helping the club to survival in England’s third tier with just two games to spare.
However, it was his form in the FA Cup, where he scored against both sides of Merseyside that drew the most attention.
Only Daniel Hylton of Aldershot Town and Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez got more goals in the competition than last season.
