Leeds United have completed the signing of teenage striker Jay-Roy Grot for a reported £1.5million.
Grot, 19, signed a four-year deal at Elland Road on Thursday after joining from NEC Nijmegen in Leeds’ first addition since selling star striker Chris Wood to Burnley for a reported fee of £15m.
The Netherlands youth international scored five goals in 20 Eredivisie appearances last season as NEC suffered relegation and is in contention make his debut away to Nottingham Forest in the Championship on Saturday.
“I am very happy, this is such a big club and this is a big step in my career, I am delighted to signed for Leeds United,” said Grot, who will wear number 11 and is Leeds’ 13th addition of the transfer window.
“It was been my dream to play in England and so to do that at a club like Leeds is really exciting.”
As well as selling Wood this week, Leeds also released striker Souleymane Doukara, who went on to join Osmanlispor in Turkey.
