Leeds United and Rangers are among the clubs interested in signing Blackburn Rivers midfielder Joe Rothwell, according to TEAMtalk. It has been reported that Newcastle United, Burnley, Southampton, Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace all are also showing interest in the 26-year-old midfielder.
However, according to the report, defending Scottish Premiership champions Rangers are leading the race for Rothwell. Steven Gerrard’s side are confident of agreeing a pre-contract with the Englishman in January which would allow them to sign him on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
Rothwell has made 12 starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship for Blackburn so far this season, scoring one goal and providing four assists in the process. The midfielder scored three goals and gave four assists in 29 league starts last season.
