Leeds United are interested in signing Dennis Cirkin from Championship rivals Sunderland in the January transfer window, according to The Sunday Mirror (p69, 10/11). The report has added that Cirkin is not available for sale in the middle of the season, but Leeds are still keeping tabs on the 22-year-old left-back.
Cirkin has been on the books of Sunderland since 2021 when he joined from Tottenham. The 22-year-old left-back has established himself as one of the best young players in the Championship and is one of the first names on the Sunderland teamsheet when he is fit and available.
So far this season, Cirkin has scored two goals and provided one assist in 15 Championship appearances for Sunderland so far this season. The youngster scored five goals and provided one assist in 21 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Championship for the Black Cats last season. Sunderland are at the top of the Championship table at the moment with 31 points from 15 games, level on points with second-placed Sheffield United.
