Leeds United are interested in signing Gonzalo Montiel from River Plate in the summer transfer window, according to Bleacher Report journalist Dean Jones. The well-respective reporter has claimed that it will cost Leeds – who will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship this campaign – £15 million in transfer fees.
Montiel is a very talented and promising young right-back who has established himself as an important player in the River first team. The 23-year-old has also played twice for the Argentina national football team.
However, Leeds are likely to face competition for the £15 million-rated defender. La Opinion reported last month that West Ham are planning to make a bid for the defender this summer. The Hammers, who narrowly escaped relegation to the Championship, are on the hunt for a new right-back due to the departure of Argentine star Pablo Zabaleta earlier this summer.
