Hoping to find a route out of the drop zone, Leganes will welcome a stalling Getafe to the Estadio Municipal de Butarque on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, picking up a thumping 4-0 win away at Real Murcia in the Copa del Rey over the weekend, few in La Liga would have expected Leganes’ stellar revival entering the New Year. Including picking up a 2-0 win over fellow scrappers Espanyol last month, Javier Aguirre’s men are unbeaten in each of their last six appearances, a run that stems back to the 1st of December. Now sat just a single point adrift of climbing out of the drop zone and the mood in their camp at a continued high, Leganes have also picked up back-to-back victories at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque and should be confident of causing another upset on Friday night.

As for the visitors, while a stellar start to the season may have seen Getafe battling in the top-four, José Bordalás’ men suddenly find themselves in the midst of a real rut. Hit with a shock 2-0 defeat away at lower league Badalona and crashing out of the Copa del Rey over the weekend, the Blues have also been struck with back-to-back La Liga defeats against Real Madrid and Villarreal. While Getafe may have a Europa League knockout tie against Ajax on the horizon, they have continued to show some struggles in the final third. Failing to find the net in each of their last three matchups on the bounce, they have not recorded a strike on the road since the middle of December.
