Leicester are ´in a bad place´ after Brentford thrashing, concedes Coady

Conor Coady admitted Leicester City are “in a bad place” as their 4-1 defeat to Brentford leaves them perilously close to the relegation zone.

Leicester, in their first match following the sacking of Steve Cooper, took the lead through Facundo Buonanotte but Brentford hit back through Yoane Wissa and a hat-trick from Kevin Schade.

The defeat leaves Leicester in 16th, just a point above the relegation zone.

And defender Coady offered no excuses for a hapless display.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the ex-Wolves man said: “We weren’t good enough. We’re conceding too many goals and not creating enough chances.

“We’re in a bad place but only us can get ourselves together. We’re in a dark place at the moment. We’ve got to pull ourselves through it and look at ourselves in the mirror.”

Coady hopes the arrival of Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who was appointed as manager on Friday and watched on from the stands, can lead to a revival in the Foxes’ fortunes.

He added: “We’re looking forward to it. Having a new manager come in and show us where we need to get better. We’ve been here before and we have a responsibility to try to get better.”

Brentford boss Thomas Frank spoke of his delight in Schade’s performance, as the forward became the fourth German to score a hat-trick in the Premier League, after Jurgen Klinsmann, Fredi Bobic and Andre Schurrle.

“Three goals and an assist, it’s a dream number for any offensive player,” said Frank.

“I’m so, so happy for him because he’s another young man that wants to do the best he can to perform. He’s had the injury last season, started the season well, and now everything he hit today went in.”

The Bees continued their stunning home form, with all six of their league wins coming at the Gtech Community Stadium, and Frank reserved special praise for his side’s supporters.

Frank said: “We are in good form at home. The fans have been really good. We create in every game and the players perform very well.

“Tempo and intensity are two keywords. We try to find the right patterns in the final third and it paid off today.”
