Leicester sack Sousa, Eriksson tipped for job

(GSM) – Leicester City have sacked manager Paulo Sousa after the club slipped into the bottom of the Championship, with one win from nine games.

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson and ex-Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill were instantly linked with the job, with the latter having enjoyed considerable success while coaching the Foxes for five seasons in the nineties.

However, League Managers Association chief executive Richard Bevan insisted that O’Neill will not be moving back to Leicester, telling BBC Radio Five Live: “I’ve spoken to Martin following a significant amount of rumours in the media and Martin will not be returning at this stage to Leicester and he’s not in communication with the club. I don’t see Martin going to Leicester City at this stage.”

Meanwhile Eriksson looks the favorite to land the job, with the Telegraph reporting that the Swede might be tempted to snub Saudi giants Al Hilal’s £1.2 million one-year-contract for a two-year contract at Leicester.
