Championship leaders Leicester City have signed veteran striker Kevin Phillips on a short-term deal until the end of the season, Sky Sports understands.
The former Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa and Birmingham City man will then hang up his boots after he aims to secure a second successive promotion to the top flight, having scored the extra-time winner for Crystal Palace in last season’s play-off final against Watford at Wembley.
Phillips had made just five appearances for the Eagles this season, all as a substitute, which led him to make the switch to the King Power Stadium having initially held discussions with the Foxes in the summer.
The move sees him again link up with manager Nigel Pearson and assistant Craig Shakespeare, both of whom he worked with in his time at West Brom.
He could make his debut at Elland Road on Saturday lunch time, when the table toppers face Leeds United.
