Scottish powerhouse Celtic are set to complete a loan deal for Leicester City defender Filip Benkovic with manager Brendan Rodgers confirming a deal for the Croatia international is close.
With Scottish transfer window closing later on Friday, Celtic are making a final push to bolster their shaky defence line and will hope to secure the signature of the 21-year-old Benkovic before the deadline.
Celtic defenders Jack Hendry and Jozo Simunovic have been criticized for their below-par performances early in the season whereas doubts remain over Dedryck Boyata who refused to play for Celtic early in the season claiming he was injured.
The Scottish champions are hence in desperate need of defensive reinforcement and it would appear that Filip Benkovic has been identified as the primary target.
Benkovic only joined Leicester City from Dinamo Zagreb this summer in a £13 million deal and the Foxes manager Claud Puel is happy to sanction a loan move in order to help him develop.
In the meantime, Leicester City are preparing for a tough Premier League test this weekend with table toppers Liverpool coming to town with a perfect record after three rounds in the new season. Reds are given a 9/20 price to secure fourth win in a row and can be found at 11/10 to keep another clean sheet.
