Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno praised his side’s fighting qualities after they battled to a 1-1 home draw with Bayern Munich.
Toni Kroos opened the scoring for Munich on Saturday, but Sidney Sam equalised for Sami Hyypia’s side within 60 seconds.
Leverkusen then had to endure sustained Bayern pressure but their defence held out, assisted by a man-of-the-match performance from Leno, who made save after save as the visitors searched for a winner.
“We have fought outstandingly,” Leno told Bild. “It was expected that I would have a lot to do, because Bayern are a top team.
“We fought to the last second. Every second person had cramp and we deserved the point. I was fully in play, but big games like this are a bit nicer to play well in.
“Bayern have actually completely dominated the game, that must be acknowledged.”
