Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey is wanted in the Premier League, according to Bild, with three clubs currently vying for his services; Leicester City, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Bailey is an extremely versatile attacking player. Primarily a winger, he is a proper threat coming down either flank or as a striker through the middle. He can even play behind a classic No.9 if asked to do so. Last season, he had 26 goal involvements (15 goals, 11 assists) in 40 appearances in all competitions for Leverkusen. Still only 23, there is obviously time and space for further improvement in a promising career, and the fact that his signature is in high demand is hardly surprising.
With two years remaining on his contract, the Bundesliga side could opt to sell now, rather than see his marker value drop over the coming season unless he signs a new deal.
Aston Villa seem the most serious among the clubs named as interested. They’ve apparently already had a €30m bid rejected, with Leverkusen holding out for €45m.
