Leonardo: ´Most difficult job´ still ahead for Inter

Inter manager Leonardo has implored his players not to get carried away after their Serie A win over Napoli on Thursday.

Leonardo was able to find plenty of positives in the 3-1 victory, with a Thiago Motta brace and Esteban Cambiasso strike doing the damage for Inter.

But, ahead of a difficult trip to Catania on Sunday, Leonardo stated there is still plenty of hard work to be done if Inter are to recover from a hugely disappointing start to their title defence.

“I think that the team put in an extraordinary performance, not only as far as the enthusiasm and spirit during the match was concerned, but also for the intelligence they showed to understand and adapt to certain situations,” he said.

“They suffered at times but still managed to get an important result against a great team.”

“I think the team has done some very important things. Having said that, now they have the difficult job of maintaining and repeating the same performances because there will be a lot of important matches to face between now and the end of the championship. There will also be many matches concentrated in a short period of time.”

“It has been really good and now we move on. The most difficult job is to keep what has been done on Thursday.”

The Brazilian also believes Samuel Eto’o and Diego Milito can form a strong attacking partnership for the reigning Serie A champions.

“I don’t think that there are two players who can’t coexist,” he said.

“It’s impossible to think that Eto’o and Milito can’t play together. They are both very different, good players and also clever from a tactical point of view. So it’s impossible to think that they can’t play together.”
