(GSM) – On Sunday, Milan strolled to a victory at Bari (0-2) to revive their title challenge. Brazilian coach Leonardo praised his side’s performance.

“Tonight it was perfect in terms of tactics and psychological approach,” Leonardo said after the match.

“It was difficult to face Bari on their own turf, as they always trouble teams here.

“We kept possession and managed to control the tempo, causing Bari many problems, so it was a complete performance from my squad.

“Ronaldinho knows how to wait for the right moment to do damage and that’s what he did tonight, as we saw very effectively.”

Marco Borriello opened the scoring with a sensational volley, a rather familiar sight this season from the striker.

“Borriello only seems to score spectacular volleys now! I have a great rapport with the players and Marco is perhaps having his best season, better even than at Genoa. He is maturing with a real step up in quality.

“In life there is a reason for everything. This team knows how to do its work, the issue is each day finding out why. We all have our stories, just look at Christian Abbiati recalled after so many injuries and he saves a penalty.”

After the 3-2 home loss to Manchester United, President Silvio Berlusconi criticised his Coach, prompting Leonardo to say he would step aside if he wasn’t wanted.

“I don’t need to say anything to the President. I just focus on the team and always have done.

“This is a marvellous experience for me personally, all the rest counts for little in my eyes.

“I took this job with great passion and want to take Milan higher because they deserve it. They have won everything there is to win, but each day manage to surprise me with something new.

“The team believes strongly in its ideas and is building solid foundations with that certainty. That is how they emerge from difficult moments and it’s wonderful to see.”
