Leonardo: ‘Ronaldino is the best in the world’

(GSM) – With his first hat-trick for Milan, Ronaldinho paved the way to victory against Siena (4-0) on Sunday. The Brazilian has started the new year excellent by netting six goals in three games.

Leonardo hasn’t been surprised by his compatriot’s performances. “Ronaldinho has always lived his career like this, transmitting passion and happiness,” the coach told the press.

“This is what he wants. He is the greatest footballer in the world and he has refound his taste for football.”

Milan benefits from Ronaldinho’s excellent form. The gap with league leaders Internazionale has been reduced to six points.

Leonardo was also keen to remember the other protagonists who have played their part in Ronaldinho’s revival.

“He has to thank this team, who could have given up on him when he made mistakes. Instead they supported him and took him to where he is today,” he concluded.

Ronaldinho has caught national coach Dunga’s interest with his recent performances, according to several Brazilian media. The 87-times capped forward played his last international match on April 1, 2009.

Yep, he is 30 now right ? Not to bring down dinho, but his stamina, and his non-existent defencive runs really do not benefit him or the team. I mean Man Utd’s pressing mentality when defencing is really what killed the game for Milan in the 2nd half. You could see Rooney really hasttling Nesta & Thiago Silva when he lost the ball, the only thing that gave dinho space and allowed him to put on such a display was Rafael’s mismarking of him. I mean if you noticed that no matter how much Pato tried, with his exceptional skills and mindblowing speed, he very rarley got away frm Evra.

I noticed that we really did not see evra in attack, we were used to seeing him attack down the wing – but not during this game. Maybe it was due to Giggs’s absence who makes a great partner to Evra.

I could really never stress enough to the importance of Fletcher in that game & in every game.

& when it comes to Rafael, well, hmm, I think his lack of experience of such games was what was behind his deadly mistakes.

It was a very good game…

Just an FYI for all the fans (sorry Soccernews – don’t mean to plug UEFA in here) but UEFA.com offered this game for free to view on its website…the Madrid game was $10…anyway, great video quality, I thought the audio was a bit poor, but it wasn’t blocked by my company’s Internet rules (I can only watch live games at work b/c of my time zone, if any of you have this problem), so it might be useful to others in the future – keep checking.

Anyway,, At Dinho’s age, I don’t think he can even compete for best in the world…but he seemed to show a lot of heart…his skills are still so entertaining and effective…maybe his conditioning is not the greatest, but he did what he could…

Fletcher and Carrick continue to do the work behind the scenes…

Totally agree with you Ali – Pato was exceptional…I enjoy watching this youngster play!

The game seems a bit complex for Rafael right now…but, maybe in due time he will come through and shake off the jitters.

Yey !! We Won Awsome Game:

what I have drawn from the game was:

1- Dinho’s early ogal was a good shot but a bit lucky, you know as it was deflected into the goal by a Man Utd player. Nevertheless, he put on quite a display for his fans in the 1st half his efforts were just splendid ! But, in the 2nd half the entire Milan team faded away, which is exactly the kind of inconsistency Ronaldinho is showing and what is preventing him from becoming the best in world.

2-Fletcher was the truely the man behind the win providing 2 vital crosses to Rooney who scored two awesome headers from them. Which really confirms my belief that he is one of the best as Ser Alex says.

3- Carrick made a very good game. I mean his defencive skills were just super-vital to United’s win, despite his role in the Milan’s 1st goal & his red card.

4-Alexandre pato really impressed me in this particular game, I mean he was really working Patrice Evra.

5-I am outraged by Rafael de Silva. I mean Milan’s 2 goals were the doing of Rafael with his poor marking of Ronaldinho, and his late dash in 85′ when he lost the ball too close to the penalty box, which in turn resulted in a pass to the unmarked Ronaldinho (who was supposed to be marked by Rafael) and him making a very good pass to Seedorf who nicks it in in a worldclass fashion.

Overall, United had a good win – very vital.

ronaldinhos goal was not very good, VDS would have had it but it hit Evans and went in the other way, not as bad as Scholes’ goal though! but… i guess you make (buy) your own luck

    We did win, Ali. 3-2.
Ronaldinho scored a goal I think, it was a good one.
I know Carrick and Fletcher are good, since they play for the Red Devils, and you’re right, they aint on the level ronny, rooney, messi, etc. are, but they’re still vital all the same. Carrick for the playmaking skills he has (similar to Paul Scholes’, obvious teammate influence) and Fletcher, I’ve already said, but I’ll say it again, United has never lost (so far) when he scores)

    Brad,

You are correct when you say they are not up there with Messi, CR9, or Rooney – But you have to admit that they are just as important in United’s formation as Giggs ang Rooney were in the recent games.

Tonight, when we are playing against Milan, dinho will prove to be very imoprtant to build the Milan attacks, he has splendid high long passes. However, he would not have that flair that he had with Barca (e.g. beating defenders & scoring amazing goals) especially when playing against a team that gives you little space like Man Utd does.

    Hope Man Utd win –

    Ali:
dont forget Fletcher has never scored in a game United lost. . . he will eventually but I have a good feeling we’ll win if he scores.
edison, fletcher and carrick are great, but not to the point that they are on the exact same level as Messi, Ronny, and Rooney.

as for Ronaldinho, he used to be the greatest, but now. . . now he is only getting back into being one of the greatest. . . hope he can stay there. . .

    Look,

Nani is really one of the best talents in the world, if you do look at his recent form (well until the red card)he did prove himself and impressed Sir Alex enough to get a starting position in one the world’s biggest clubs. He has the technique, the touch, & the flair to grow into a perfect player.

Fletcher has also proven to be one of the MOST IMPORTANT players in Man Utd’s formation. If you can see that this season, Fletcher and Giggs were behind most of the goals scored for Man Utd, with the incredible help of Valencia & the great Rooney.

Carrick as I said has the cool head and the physical carachteristics to be considered one of the best playmakers in the Premiere League. However, as I said before, he was outdone by Fabregas, Iniesta, Xavi, Mikel, & Essien – but that doesnt make him less of a great player.

Yo have to understand that in the English Premiere League, physical tenasity is just as important as talent and flair. It is just a shame that Flair is over-rated. Believe me, the most important positions in a tam is the play-making postition which has been the case in perfect examples like Barcelona & Arsenal.

    & edison:
If carrick didn’t have talent and didnt turn heads big teams like Man Utd, Chelsea & liverpool wouldnt have went into a bidding war over him.

Fletcher? So far in his career, he has always scored in a win or draw (mostly wins) so when he scores I always have a good feeling about the game’s outcome. . .

but Gooner has a good point: Ronaldinho is better than Nani, Fletcher, and just a shade more skillful then the Big Four playmakers. . .

Nani played two good games, no, actually he made 3 good plays in two games. haha, dont worry, im not saying he is not good, but i would not say best talents in english football. there is another player who has only 3 goals this year… ryan babel, but i would actually rather have babel because he has only started 5 games and nani has started 21! Then Ronaldinho is WAY better than Nani.

    Ok ppl:
1-Ronaldo didn’t quit Barca, I recall quite clearly that Barca gave up dinho, so there goes your theory about him wanting more money.

2-Beckham felt threatened that he wasn’t going to South Africa with England, so Sir Alex made it very clear that if he wanted to impress Capello he must go back to Europe.

3-I can surley tell you that either Becks or Dinho are really desperate for money, although no amount of wealth is too much.

4-Ronaldinho now is 30 yrs old I think, & his Barcelona days were the best of his career untill it went bad in 2008. At his current age, its very hard to regain that with Milan, especially in midst of the Inter dominance of Italian football.

5-Lets not forget about the likes of Kaka, C.Ronaldo, Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Messi, Rooney, and even Nanni in his recent form. All of these players are really competing for the title of “Best in the world”

6-If you look at the FIFA player of the world award, it really comes down to wether or not your team wins titles. So for him to be called the best means at leat winning the league & reaching the final of the champion’s league. (e.g. Messi, C.Ronaldo, and Ronaldinho in 2006)

as for Ronaldinho, he used to be the greatest, but now. . . now he is only getting back into being one of the greatest. . . hope he can stay there. . .

    We did win, Ali. 3-2.
Ronaldinho scored a goal I think, it was a good one.
I know Carrick and Fletcher are good, since they play for the Red Devils, and you’re right, they aint on the level ronny, rooney, messi, etc. are, but they’re still vital all the same. Carrick for the playmaking skills he has (similar to Paul Scholes’, obvious teammate influence) and Fletcher, I’ve already said, but I’ll say it again, United has never lost (so far) when he scores)

ronaldinhos goal was not very good, VDS would have had it but it hit Evans and went in the other way, not as bad as Scholes’ goal though! but… i guess you make (buy) your own luck
