(GSM) – AC Milan boss Leonardo wants the team to end the season with honour and denies uncertainty over his future is affecting his team.
The Rossoneri have dropped out of the Scudetto race after two consecutive defeats and have won only one of their last seven games.
“I don’t want alibis, but once again we were affected by the large number of players who were missing due to injury or suspension,” Leonardo told after 3-1 defeat to Palermo.
“It is absolutely not true that we step on to the field thinking this might be one of my last matches on the Milan bench. I only focus on doing well for the rest of the season.
“My principle objective is to end the campaign in a positive way, with honour. I think that from the next tie with Fiorentina, when we’ll have more players available, we can see the Milan who played most of the season at a high level,” boss talked about Milan’s status.
Leonardo is expected to walk away in the summer along with several of the players, as a renewal process dominates transfer headlines.
“I don’t think my future is affecting any of the performances. Otherwise how could we explain the strong reaction the team had in the second half, when Palermo were under pressure.
“We were damaged by a poor start to the game and the third goal which, like the other two, came from our mistake,” Milan coach explained his team’s mistakes.
