Schalke attacking midfielder Leroy Sane is enjoying a promising start to the new Bundesliga season, and continues to improve almost week after week. The 19-year-old’s form for Die Königsblauenhas already seen him represent his country at senior level, and the future looks bright for the youngster. He one of the Bundesliga’s top dribblers, and has been attracting the interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool according to various sources in the last 12 months.
Now Sane’s name will be more well-known among the European giants, and it would be a major surprise if he was still playing at the Veltins-Arena after next summer. The youngster will be desperate to make the Germany squad for the 2016 European Championships, and may be forced to play for a bigger club if selection alludes him. There’s also the possibility that Sane could impress in the competition and earn himself a big-money move after the Euros, so his standing is likely to rise in the coming months.
Boasting excessive pace, quick-feet and a calmness in possession, Sane plays without fear on the pitch, and is used frequently by his teammates. He likes to commit defenders, but won’t do too much on the ball, and he keeps things simple with his passing. While unselfish and a good team player with a work ethic, he has the ability to be a game-changer. His individual brilliance can often be the difference in games, but he’s now likely to come with a lofty asking price as a result.
Schalke will be desperate to hold on to his services, but will also want to ensure they are adequately compensated should the youngster seek an exit. He’s delivered impressive performances in big European games in the last year, and could certainly properly them to a Champions League spot in the Bundesliga this season should he remain at the Veltins-Arena for the duration. Under manager André Breitenreiter, his game has come on leaps and bounds, and while many were questioning why Draxler was allowed to leave, Sane’s rise to prominence has answered any questions.
