On Thursday night, Manchester City breeze past Arsenal 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League. In was the second time in less than a week the Citizens have beaten the Gunners with ease.

While Arsenal’s situation is not great at the minute, City deserves credit for producing two big performances in such short time. One player who shone brightly on Thursday night was Germany international winger Leroy Sane who is maturing into a fine player under Pep Guardiola.

Involved in absolutely everything

Sane had a hand or foot in all three goals, the third of which he scored. However, he seemed to be involved in everything good that City produced against the hapless Gunners.

He was many peoples man of the match, as he ran the Gunners ragged in the first half. His second-half performance was slightly subdued. However, at that point City were cruising three goals up, mainly down the youngster’s brilliance out wide.

His performance at the Emirates was his best since returning to action from injury a few weeks ago. It seems he is now back to full fitness and back to near his best. Heaven help defenders for the rest of the campaign with Sane back in business.

Developing well at City

When Leroy Sane arrived at Manchester City, some questioned the fee paid by the Citizens for the youngster. He was no doubt a highly-rated youngster. However, he still had to prove he belonged at the top level of the game.

The fact that City boss Pep Guardiola was so keen to sign the winger should have alerted us to the fact that he would develop into a fine player. He struggled to have an impact in his opening few months at the club.

However, during the second half of last season and this season, Sane has shown a steady improvement in his development. In the whole of last season, the German only scored five times and produced seven assists in the English top-flight.

Sane has already bettered that tally this season, scoring eight goals and producing 111 assists for the Premier Leagues runaway leaders. More importantly, he has not looked out of place in a team full of stars.

The 22-year-old is showing all the attributes to become a world-class player in the future. His pace, vision and awareness are already top-notch. A potential fee of around £46.5million, including add-ons, could prove to be a bargain in today’s crazy transfer market.

Sane is only going to get better, as he develops and picks up more experience. It would be a major surprise if he were not one of the stars of the Premier League in a couple of years’ time, especially with Guardiola’s ability to develop.

City cruising to the Premier League title

This season has almost been a procession for Manchester City. There is no question about who the best team in the Premier League is this season. The victory at Arsenal put the Citizens 16 points clear at the top of the table, with the teams below now fighting for the Champions League spots.

City’s odds of 1/2000 to win the title, say it all about the current situation at the top of the Premier League table. Guardiola’s side are cruising to the title and will be hoping they can seal the victory as quick as they can, as they look to also win the Champions League this season.

Leroy Sane can claim to have played a big part in City’s triumphant campaign so far in the Premier League. I get the feeling he may well pick up many more trophies in the next few years playing for City and in the process become a world-class performer.

Can Leroy Sane become a world-class player in the future?
