The Mail Online understands that Joelon Lescott is closing in on a move to Hull City, though at least two other Premier League sides remain in the race to secure his services.
Lescott had fallen down the pecking order at Manchester City in recent seasons, making just ten Premier League appearances during their 2013/14 title winning campaign, and is available on a free transfer having failed to earn a new deal at the Etihad Stadium.
FA Cup runners-up Hull are favourites to sign the 31 year old with a medical on Humberside expected later this week though West Ham United, who were linked with him in January, and Aston Villa have emerged as alternative options.
Clubs in Turkey and the Middles East had also been mentioned as potential destinations for the former England international defender, though he is keen to continue his career in the top flight of English football.
