Manchester City’s Joleon Lescott has praised Micah Richards after the full-back’s fine start to the season.
Richards netted City’s second goal in the 3-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday and his form on the right-hand side of defence has not gone unnoticed with his team-mates.
“Micah has been in immense form all season,” Lescott told the City website.
“His confidence is really high. He is in the best form of his career and has the world at his feet.”
“I would say he is the best right-back in the league just now. If he continues this form he will be the best in the world.”
Lescott, who played a big role in England’s recent friendly win over Spain, also talked about his place in the national team set-up.
“It is nice to be involved with England,” he said.
“It was fantastic to be part of such a great performance and beat a brilliant team like Spain but (Manchester City) is my bread and butter.”
“I know if I don’t play well for Manchester City I won’t be getting picked with England.”
