Lescott set for loan move

Manchester City are set to loan out Joleon Lescott this month, according to the Mail Online.

The England international has started just twelve games in all competitions under manager Manuel Pellegrini with captain Vincent Kompany, Matija Nastasic and Martin Demichelis all above him in the pecking order.

The 31 year old is out of contract in the summer, and is unlikely to be offered a new deal but could move away initially on a temporary basis this month with Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Monaco all linked with a move to secure his services.

The former Everton man has twenty-six England caps, and is keen to put himself in Roy Hodgson’s squad as the England manager considers his options ahead of the World Cup finals in Brazil.

Lescott played in five of the ten qualifying matches for next summer’s tournament, and scored his only international goal in the opening match of Euro 2012 – a 1-1 draw with France.
