Barcelona lost for the first time in 46 Liga F games on Saturday, suffering a shock 2-1 defeat at home by lowly Levante.
Barca, who thrashed Real Madrid 5-0 in the Supercopa de Espana Femenina last Sunday, dropped points for the first time this term as they crashed to their first league loss since May 2023.
Levante, who sit second from bottom in the table, took a 50th-minute lead thanks to Maria Alharilla’s thunderous strike, before doubling their advantage in stoppage time through Ivonne Chacon.
Barcelona pulled one back through substitute Fridolina Rolfo one minute later, but it was too late for them to salvage a result.
It was not for lack of trying though, as Barcelona registered 47 shots on Saturday, creating 5.11 expected goals (xG) from their chances. 13 of their efforts were on target, while they also struck the post twice through Graham and Salma Paralluelo.
Levante, meanwhile, had just six chances, scoring with half of their shots on target, despite having just six touches in the opposition box. Barcelona had 92.
