Bayer Leverkusen have agreed a deal to sign Brazilian full-back Wendell from Gremio in the summer transfer window, according to the player’s official representative.
Agent Gian Petruzziello revealed on Twitter that the talented defender would be joining the Bundesliga side at the end of the current campaign.
According to L’Equipe, Leverkusen have had a €5.5 million accepted by Gremio, with the defender set to join his new employers when his current side get eliminated from Copa Libertadores.
Wendell played for lower division sides Iraty, Londrina and Parana before he was finally snatched by Gremio last summer.
The youngster has since made a total of 15 league appearances for the Brazilian giants, and did well to establish himself as a first team regular this season.
Bayer Leverkusen acted quickly to win the race for Wendell’s signature, with the left-back set to challenge Sebastian Boenisch and Kostas Stafylidis for a starting berth at Bay Arena.
