Bayer Leverkusen have announced the signing of Swiss attacker Josip Drmic from Nurnberg on their official website.
The talented forward caught the eye of Europe’s top clubs with his performances in the maiden Bundesliga season, but die Werkself have managed to win the chase for his signature.
Bayer Leverkusen matched the player’s €6 million release clause, with Drmic agreeing on a deal until June 2019.
The 21-year-old has become club’s second signing for the 2014/2015 season, with Brazilian full-back Wendell having earlier agreed a switch to Bay Arena.
Josip Drmic joined Nurnberg from Zurich last summer and he has enjoyed a brilliant start to his career in Germany.
The highly rated attacker went on to score 17 goals in 33 league outings, but could not prevent relegation to the second division.
Having scored a brace in his last appearance for Switzerland, Drmic is almost certain to be named in Ottmar Hitzfeld’s World Cup squad.
