German giants Bayer Leverkusen have rekindled their interest in Hoffenheim forward Kevin Volland, Bild can reveal.
Die Werkself almost signed the Germany international last summer, but the 23-year-old was eventually persuaded to stay by coach Markus Gisdol, signing a new deal with the club until 2019.
But, with Gisdol now gone and Hoffenheim showing no signs of improvement, Volland could realise his proposed move to Bay Arena this summer.
Bayer Leverkusen are ready to launch a fresh assault on their long-term target, but it remains to be seen whether they can find an agreement with the striker’s employers, who reportedly want €15 million for their prized possession.
Kevin Volland has been one of Bundesliga’s star performers over the last few years, scoring 33 goals and producing 25 assists in 130 league outings for the club.
His suitors Bayer Leverkusen cemented the third place in the overall standings thanks to seven victories on the bounce and they are 28/10 to make it eight in a row this weekend.
