Leverkusen confident of Wirtz long-term stay

Despite reportedly strong interest from the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal, according to Bild, Bayer Leverkusen are confident that Florian Wirtz will sign a new contract with his current employers and remain at the BayArena for a long while yet.

Wirtz played a crucial role in Leverkusen’s charge to glory in the Bundesliga last season, showing great talent in both creating and scoring goals. His exploits have expectedly attracted interests from a number of top clubs across Europe, with even Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona mentioned in that aspect from time to time.

Come the summer, the 21-year-old attacking midfielder, who has scored 15 goals and provided 13 assists in 38 matches this season, will have two years left on his current deal, and unless an agreement over a new deal is reached soon, it will perhaps be the last opportunity for Bayer to get a full market value for his services.
