Bayer Leverkusen are stepping up their efforts to sign Roma defender Tim Jedvaj, the German club chief has revealed.
Die Werkself have been keeping close tabs on the 18-year-old defender and they are determined to lure him to Bay Arena this summer.
Bayer Leverkusen have already opened talks with the youngster’s employers and they are confident they can succeed in their quest.
“We want the player and are in promising talks,” Leverkusen chief Michael Schade confessed to Bild.
With Emir Spahic likely to leave when his contract expires in a year’s time, the Bay Arena outfit see the Croatian stopper as a perfect long-term replacement for the Bosnian.
Tim Jedvaj joined AS Roma in a €5 million deal from Dinamo Zagreb last summer, but has only managed two Serie A appearances since.
The highly rated centre-back is a member of Croatia Under-21 side and he is predicted a bright future in the game, as witnessed by the serious interest from Bayer Leverkusen.
