Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of Inter right-back Giulio Donati for an undisclosed fee.
The Italy Under-21 international has put pen to paper on a four-year deal after spending last season on loan at Serie B side Grosseto.
And the 23-year-old is excited by the prospect of joining playing UEFA Champions League football for the Bundesliga side.
“Bayer is a top German club and also has a big reputation in Italy,” he told Leverkusen’s official website.
“I am looking forward to the Bundesliga, and the fact I will be in the Champions League with Leverkusen is, for me, a very special challenge.
“I’ll give everything to help Bayer achieve their goals.”
Sporting director Rudi Voeller added: “(He is) a player with potential to develop. Donati is a regular Under-21 (international), and has gained a lot of match practice in the Italian Serie B, and impressed us with his good performances at the European Championship in Israel.
“Giulio will give us lots of pleasure in the future.”
Leverkusen director Wolfgang Wooded was delighted to secure the player’s signature.
“With Giulio Donati we have a young, aspiring and committed player, who fits perfectly into the profile of Bayer Leverkusen” he added.
“He was a mainstay of the successful Italian team at the U21 European Championships in Israel. We are convinced that Donati will fill the position of right-back very well.”
