Leverkusen join race for Morata

German daily Bild understands that Bayer Leverkusen are weighing up a summer swoop for Real Madrid starlet Alvaro Morata.

The youngster has been heavily linked with a January exit from Santiago Bernabeu, but he ultimately remained at the club.

And even though he is likely to get more playing time now that Jese Rodriguez has suffered a knee ligament injury, the player’s long-term future is in doubt.

There are quite a few top European clubs hoping to take advantage of the situation, and Bayer Leverkusen are the latest side to have shown interest.

Die Werkself plan to reinforce the front line in the summer as they are set to stay without Sidney Sam, but they clearly face an uphill task in an attempt to lure Morata to Bay Arena.

The German giants will be in action later today as they play host to Eintracht Braunschweig, and they are 4/11 to emerge victorious.
