Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen are in the market for a central midfielder, Kicker has suggested.
Die Werkself produced a major coup by winning the chase for Chile star Charles Aranguiz, but were unfortunate to have the footballer suffer a difficult Achilles injury before even making a first team debut.
As a result, Bayer Leverkusen are now forced to recruit another central midfielder and are currently looking at a total of three players.
Schalke’s Max Meyer has emerged as their top target, while Bayern starlet Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is another candidate.
Meanwhile, reports from Greece claim that Leverkusen could make a move on former Fulham midfielder Pajtim Kasami, currently plying his trade at Olympiakos.
Following the second successive Bundesliga triumph, Die Werkself face Lazio in the second leg of the Champions League play-off, and after suffering a 1-0 loss at Stadio Olimpico, they can be backed at 11/8 to qualify for the group stages.
