Bayer Leverkusen have signed Germany Under-21 midfielder Emre Can from Bayern Munich.
The 19-year-old moves to the BayArena on a four-year contract, although Bayern do have a repurchase option included in the deal.
Emre, widely regarded as one of the brightest young talents in German football, has struggled to establish himself at the Allianz Arena, making just four Bundesliga appearances.
He made just seven appearances for Bayern last term, but is eager to obtain more first-team football with Leverkusen.
“Bayer Leverkusen is one of the giants and plays in the Bundesliga and Champions League,” he told the club’s official website.
“I want to make my contribution to making the coming years successful in all competitions.”
Despite his relative inexperience, Leverkusen chief executive Wolfgang Holzhaeuser is confident Emre will be a success for Leverkusen.
“Emre Can is one of the great German talents in the midfield,” Holzhaeuser said.
“We are firmly convinced that he will be able to help us significantly in the coming years.”
