Bayer Leverkusen captain Simon Rolfes will miss the Bundesliga leader’s clash with Borussia Dortmund on Friday night having undergone a small operation, it was announced Tuesday.
The 27-year-old Germany midfielder has had a minor operation to help ease the swollen knee he suffered during his country’s 1-0 win over Russia in Moscow on October 10 which sealed their place at next June’s World Cup.
He must rest for the next 10 days and miss his side’s home game with Dortmund as Leverkusen are top of the league only by virtue of goal difference ahead of second-placed Hamburg who also have 21 points.
