Robert Lewandowski has confirmed his intention to leave Borussia Dortmund, amid growing reports of a move to Bayern Munich.
The Poland international striker has been a key figure in Dortmund’s recent success and was part of the side that lost the UEFA Champions League final to Bayern in May.
With the 24-year-old’s contract set to enter its final year, it looks likely the club will sanction a move, a decision that Lewandowski believes makes sense for all concerned.
“I expect everything to be cleared up now so that I will be allowed to move to my dream club this summer,” he told Sport Bild.
“That would be best for everybody involved.
“Dortmund are a fantastic club whom I will always admire. It’s just now I want a new challenge for my future.
“Our relationship is very trusting. I’m sure that I can rely on Dortmund, and we can find a common solution.”
If Lewandowski were to join Bayern, he would follow Mario Goetze in leaving Dortmund for the Allianz Arena.
Goetze’s transfer was announced shortly before the club’s Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.
