Robert Lewandowski set a new Bundesliga record with a hat-trick in Bayern Munich’s 5-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
The Poland star struck three times in the first hour at the Allianz Arena to take his tally for the season to 10 goals in just five matches in 2020-21.
No player has ever scored as many goals in the first five games of a Bundesliga season.
Lewandowski’s latest feat came just a week after he completed a Bundesliga set against Arminia Bielefeld.
The 32-year-old’s goal in the 4-1 win meant he had scored against each of the current 18 teams in the Bundesliga, including Bayern.
Lewandowski scored 55 times in all competitions last season – at least 16 more than any other player in Europe’s top-five leagues – as Bayern won the treble of Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League trophies.
